The palette
Three rings like a real geode: smooth basalt outside (with a little tuff and deepslate), white calcite in the middle, purple amethyst and budding amethyst inside. Purple stained glass tips the crystals; tuff for the path and the rubble; the portal glows purple among the amethyst.
